Bahrain’s Petroleum Company (BAPCO) has awarded athe US$4.2 billion deal to modernize refinery facilities to Korean based, Samsung Engineering Co. The modernisation is expected to boost barrel production from 267,000 to 360,000 per day. To read more click
AWS will be setting up it’s first Middle East Cloud technology data centre here in Bahrain and is expected to be operational by early 2019. The Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and FinTech Consortium (FTC) have launched Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB), the largest dedicated FinTech hub in the Middle East and Africa. Bahrain will be added to FTC’s global network of locations alongside New York and Singapore, and will be focused on assisting in the development of Fintech firms in the country. Bahrain’s Central Bank (CBB) has announced the creation of a FinTech Unit will be responsible for the supervision of licensed companies’ activities and operations, including cloud computing, payment and settlement systems, and monitoring technical and regulatory developments in the FinTech field, as well as for the approval process to participate in the Regulatory Sandbox.
