Changes were recently announced by the Minister of Interior (decision No. 34 of 2021) relating to entry visas and residence permits for the expatriate worker’s family members.
The details of this decision are outlined as follows;
• Employers are now able to process new permits and/or renew their workers’ family visas (spouse and dependents) via the Expat Management System (LMRA EMS). Previously these applications were submitted only via the immigration department.
• The applications will be approved for family members up to the age of 24. Previously this was applicable only up to the age of 18.
• This new decision is applicable only for workers whose monthly income is not less than BD400.
